This was the first item presented by Alan. There are many ways to define it. Generally 'agreed' definition is an unposed picture. One of the definitions by Alan was "How do you present the society based on your perspective". The photos are free to be interpreted but whether your photo is able to make person looking at your photo interpret the way you interpret it, is another story.
Tips & Pointers
What is the tool? What is the best camera? It is the one that you currently have (compact camera, phone camera, film camera etc.). There is no need for super expensive equipment. Basically a 'good enough' camera to create the photo. One important thing to go with is master your tool.
Composition. Composition is important as it helps in directing attention. The rules of composition is not absolute but as a guide. Some examples of types of composition is the rule of thirds, leading lines, triangles, colour etc.
Timing. Timing is especially important in street as the 'moment' most of the time last for an instant. This also includes patience in waiting for the right moment to occur. This requires you to have an idea of what you want then wait for it to occur.
Photo elements. It is the 'things' of the photo that is telling the story. Generally at least 3 but not too many as it will be distracting.
Light. Perhaps the most important thing in photography. It creates and/or sets the emotion and mood of the photo.
Some quotes that were presented (I was not able to get all that was given):
"To see different, is to think differently"
"Street photography; Science, Art & Psychology"
